Do you fancy becoming a volunteer at Community Connections? We currently have volunteer roles in the Community Café as café assistants, shop assistants in our on-site charity shop, or drivers for lunch time delivery service. You will receive support, guidance and training for your role. Our volunteer opportunities are geared to helping people gain confidence in a work situation and to provide a safe place where people can come and mix with others within a non-threatening environment. Some of the staff have started off as volunteers, then went on to successfully gain paid work.

Our current volunteer vacancies are:

  • in our community café, Café Connect. Your duties will be to prepare simple meals and snacks, as well as serve customers on the till, clear tables, take orders, and deliver food to the tables in the café. Click here.

  • in our on-site charity shop, "Twice But Nice". For this role your duties will be to serve customers on the till, take donated items into the store room, sort through donations, price up items, keep shop tidy & well ordered, and put new stock out onto display shelves, etc. Click here to see more about the shop.

  • drivers for our Meals-on-Wheels service. In this role you will be delivering hot, ready-to-eat meals from the Stour Connect centre and taking transporting them to customers in various parts of North Dorset, see here. You will need your own vehicle but you will receive travel allowance.

For each of these roles you can do whatever you feel most comfortable with. For instance, if you are not comfortable working on the till, or front-of-house position, you won't have to! Our focus here at Community Connections is to put you where you feel most comfortable so that you can achieve self fulfilment, satisfaction, and enjoyment, as well as to help you build up confidence and self-esteem.

For all our volunteer positions you will receive travel expenses as well as training, guidance and support.

To enquire, please phone Sheryn, Tre, or Julie on 01258 471359. The Community Connections centre is a friendly, welcoming place for anyone wishing to gain skills and experience.
